pastoral search introduction
christ centered - community focused - confirming our faith through action
The Community Church of Huntington (CCH) is a small, rural church that is community-focused and fellowship-minded. Our multi-generational congregation, from newborns to 90+, young families to retirees, representing all sectors of our community from farmers to business people, is seeking a part-time or bi-vocational pastor to lead our church family. We are the only congregation in our small town and are therefore looking for a pastor who is relational and community focused, skilled at shepherding and pastoring, and intentional about the unifying love of Christ.
Huntington is located in the southeastern corner of Chittenden County, offering life in the “slow lane” in a picturesque, rural Vermont town while also being situated just 35 minutes southeast of Burlington and Lake Champlain with lots to offer in outdoor adventure.
This is a part-time salaried position starting out at approximately 15-20 hours per week with the majority of the hours scheduled at the pastor’s discretion. This approach shall allow the pastor and church leadership to set priorities and will provide flexibility for the pastor to supplement income with additional employment opportunities. Compensation and benefits will be established by the church leadership team and affirmed by the church members. While this position would begin as bi-vocational, our congregation is open to seeing it grow into a full-time position in the future.
We gather each Sunday morning to share our love for God and neighbor through worship and prayer. In our church's life together, we aspire to follow Jesus Christ with a just and generous expression of our faith in word and deed.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit minister to the world through Scripture & the Church. As a community, we endeavor to manifest the universal church locally. We rely on God’s guidance and pray to ascertain His will in all matters and decisions regarding the affairs of the CCH.
Our ministry, rooted in community, focuses on physical and tangible reflections of Christ’s love:
